Kenneth LeMay Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" G. LeMay, 73, of Hampton Beach, NH, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025.

Born in Lowell, MA on May 16, 1952, he was the son of the late Leo and Annette (Gaumont) LeMay. Ken was a man of quiet strength, a devoted family man, and someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially those spent by the ocean.

Early in life, Ken and his wife, Joyce, shared a love not only for each other but also for food and community. Together, they owned and operated Lee Ann Pizza and Grinders at Hampton Beach until 1979. His passion for cooking continued as he worked alongside his father and later opened a small business in Lowell, MA, called the American Standby.

In 1991, Ken and his family moved from Hampton Beach to Goffstown, NH, where they ran Goffstown Manor, a residential care home, with deep compassion and dedication until 2010. Their work left a lasting impact on many lives. The family returned to Hampton Beach in 2011, a place that always held Ken's heart. He later worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier until his retirement in 2020.

Ken loved the ocean, the rhythm of the waves, and the view from the corner of his deck where he'd often sit and quietly watch the world go by. He found peace in those moments, and they became his sanctuary.

A dedicated Cub Scout leader when his sons were young, Ken cherished the time he spent guiding and mentoring the scouts. He had a gentle and patient nature that made him a trusted presence in the lives of many children and families.

Ken also had a lifelong love of music, especially the organ, which he played with enthusiasm and joy.

He was predeceased by his beloved sons, Jonathan Kenneth LeMay in 2017 and Jefferey Kenneth LeMay in 2018, as well as by his brother, Peter LeMay. The loss of his sons was profound, but he carried their memory with strength and grace.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Joyce (Philbin) LeMay, with whom he shared a life full of love, resilience, and partnership. He also leaves behind his two brothers William "Willy" LeMay of Nantucket and Steven LeMay of Windham; his sister, Elizabeth "BettyAnn" Anderson of Dracut; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church of Hampton, 127 Winnacunnet Rd, Hampton, NH.

Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org/

We’ll miss you so much, Kenny, especially every time we wonder where the Spam is at our July 4th breakfast. I’ll always remember our Russian Bank card games and all the fun we had at Camp. Relax now and watch the ocean from above.
