Maria S. Gallant

DERRY - Maria S. Gallant, 89, of Derry died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, in the Courville at Manchester. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, on Jan. 9, 1926, a daughter of the late Fred and Rosalie (Barrieau) Goguen. She had been a resident of Derry since 1970, formerly living in Lawrence, Mass.Mrs. Gallant had been employed as an assembler for ITT Semiconductor in Lawrence, Mass., for 23 years, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry and had been a member of L'Assumption Association for 30 years. Mrs. Gallant enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by two sons, Jean-Claude Gallant of Merrimack and Joseph "Serge" Gallant of Derry; two daughters, Gilberte Frechette of Venice, Fla., and Eva M. Love of North Conway; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph I. Gallant, in 2012, and her two sisters, Regina Babineau and Bertha McGrath..

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.A liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry, with cremation to follow.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, MA/NH Chapter, 166 River Road, Suite 210, Bedford, NH 03110.
