Martha Collins Obituary

Martha "Lee" Collins, 91, of Auburn, NH died at The Elliot Hospital on September 12, 2025 with her loving family by her side.

Lee was born in Warwood, WV on December 27, 1933, and raised in Oakmont, PA. She was the daughter of John B. and Georgia A. (Heston) Eaton.

Lee leaves behind her husband of almost 72 years, Robert J Collins Jr, of Auburn, NH. Bob and Lee met at Waynesburg University in PA and that is where their love story began. Lee's sister affectionately named them "Velcro" because they were always together!

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Robert J Collins III in 2023 and predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister. She was the last matriarch of the Eaton clan.

She also leaves behind her daughter, Bonnie Boucher, and husband Norm, of Auburn.

She adored her grandchildren and their spouses: Brendan & Courtney Boucher, Megan & Brent Dumont, and Moira & Cristopher Glenn.

A true highlight of her life was living to see her 6 great grandchildren; Kinsey, Collin, Maeve, Calum, Iris, and Fiona.

Family was the center of Lee's life. She enjoyed living in many states due to Bob's job transfers, but settling in Hooksett, NH proved to be special. She worked in the Hooksett School district for 20 years where she began the library at Hooksett Village School and worked in Special Education at Village and Underhill Schools.

She was an active member of The Congregational Church of Hooksett and served faithfully as a deacon. Through her years at the church, she helped prepare and serve many after funeral luncheons and did so with her usual care and compassion. People often commented how welcomed they felt by Lee.

She had been a member of The Hooksett Women's Club as well as correspondent for a local newspaper, The Hooksett Banner.

During retirement she worked alongside Bob as an usher for the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin, FL. For 17 years. She greeted all with her smile and often commented that these were special years.

Although she had health challenges during the last years of her life, she met them with a quiet dignity and grace and always expressed her appreciation by saying," Aren't I lucky?" Those who knew and loved her were the lucky ones and she will be missed always.

The funeral will be held on Sept 29, 2025 at The Congregational Church of Hooksett starting at 11:00 am with visitation before the service beginning at 9:30 am.

Donations may be made in her memory to support Shriner's Children's Boston or The Fitch Unit at The Elliot Hospital.
