Mary Partin Obituary

Mary Jean (Richards) Partin was born on November 3, 1936, in Lawrence, MA, to Barbara (Senior) and George C. "Chad" Richards. The family moved between MA and ME, following Chad's work in textile mills. Jean attended Wrentham High School, graduating in 1954. She married Marco Lerra, Sr., in 1961 and had Marco F. Lerra, and Christopher G. Lerra. After divorcing, Jean raised Marco and Chris, supporting the family through various jobs, including teaching at Chamberlain Junior College. To raise their prospects, she studied part-time, earning a BS in Business Education from Salem State College in 1973. Jean became a Christian in 1975, joining Fairhaven Chapel in Essex, where she met and married Franklin A. Partin, Jr. in 1976. They settled in New Boston, NH, and had Andrew and Amy Partin, whom she homeschooled for six years. Jean then took on a more adventurous form of teaching and became a driver's ed instructor. Jean loved her family and the Lord most of all and would share her songs of praise with anyone who cared to listen or join in. She was also passionate about the natural beauty of New England, enjoying long walks and swimming in the rain, breathing the pine-scented air of ME, and listening to the peepers announcing the arrival of spring. A resident of New Boston for 44 years, Jean was a faithful member of Chestnut Hill Chapel. Jean was predeceased by her husband Franklin A. Partin, Jr., daughter Amy (Partin) Tyack, and sisters Sally and Joan Richards. She is survived by her brother George "Dick" Richards, three sons, grandson Justin Lerra, and great-grandchildren "Junior" and Noelle.
