Michael Houghton

1958 - 2022

Michael Houghton 63, of Penacook and Whitefield NH, passed away on Friday, February 11th, 2022 after battling cancer. Celebrations of life will be planned at a later date. Mike was born in Lancaster, NH on September 10th, 1958. He attended St Rose of Lima, then Whitefield Elementary, and graduated from White Mountain Regional High School in 1977 where he participated in wrestling. He continued his education at Manchester Vocational Tech where Welding was his major. After graduating in 1979, he joined the Pipefitters/Steamfitters Union Local 131 where he retired after 40 years. He enjoyed various activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, listening to country music, and watching Nascar races. His favorite activity was to ski along the mountain slopes of New England. He would often spend hours with friends and family at Bretton Woods, his favorite place to ski, where he had started skiing in 1985. He was predeceased by his father William Houghton and his brother Matthew Houghton.

Michael is survived by his mother Claire Houghton, sister Susie, and her husband Andy Kopf, nephews Jake Houghton, Alex Kopf, Nicki Kopf, and niece Mikaela Houghton and his dog, Jack.

The family wishes to thank all of the kind staff at all of the various hospitals who had helped him through this time including the Jack Byrne Center Dartmouth NH. The family would also like to thank the local community for their support. There will be no services.
