A message from Makepeace family:

Thank you all, for the outpouring of love and support as we mourn the loss of our beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin and friend, Paula Brunelle Makepeace. We think of her and miss her so much every day. It is heartwarming to see all of the lives she touched in her life. Please know she loved all of you dearly. The stories shared and condolences offered by all of you have brought us such comfort. We feel every bit of the love and support shared our family's way.

We are having a Celebration of Paula's Life on her birthday, October 2, in Hudson, New Hampshire. It's being organized by Paula's lifelong friends, her Presentation of Mary Academy (PMA) Class of 1969. It is a small class of 27 girls who have stayed so close their whole lives. They'll be a memorial service at the PMA Chapel that all the girls went to every day grades 1 through 12, followed by a buffet and Celebration of Paula's Life one mile away at Friendly Red's Event Hall and Restaurant. Her lifelong friends are doing an amazing job organizing everything, along with the support of the school. Their class song is "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Gerry and the Pacemakers. It certainly holds true with everyone in their class.

All are welcome to attend the Memorial service as well as the buffet. Our family would love to see you all there. Please come and share your personal memories of Paula to help us celebrate. An RSVP is not required, but is appreciated to help us plan.

Thanks so much to the entire PMA Class of '69 for honoring Paula in this amazing, very special way. They have been so supportive throughout the years!!

The following is a tribute written by Paula's lifelong friends, the PMA Class of '69.

Memories of Paula from Classmates of PMA:

Paula will always be remembered in many ways. Wherever Paula went, she brought sunshine, laughter, fun times, and hope for anyone in need-all with a sense of humor, always catching her audience by surprise. She was a breath of fresh air, and her smile was contagious. Paula was a special person - kind, full of love and incredibly funny.

Paula attended the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH, starting at an early age, and graduating in the class of 1969. Paula, who was affectionately known to her classmates as 'P Brunelle', was a cheerleader for the PMA basketball team. Team members recall hearing Paula's voice over everyone else's in the gym. Her smile made the slightly unbalanced pyramid look amazing. Winning or losing, her energy level and spirit were outstanding. Cheering from the heart, believing in us, even when we didn't. Paula continued being our cheerleader, quick to send a loving, positive message and always reminding us of the power of our supportive PMA prayer line. She also found ways to cheer for others, especially when she heard of her classmates in need. Paula had a way of making people feel at ease, of bringing lightness and laughter - even from a distance. Her cheerleading often turned into fundraising and endlessly volunteering her time and talents into making others aware of what needed to be done. In other words, Paula loved life and people.

Paula was very involved at PMA. She won trophies and medals in Baton Twirling, including the individual Baton Twirling Trophy; cheerleader all four years of high school; Vice President of the French Club in her freshmen and sophomore years; Member of the National Association for Special Needs Children in her senior year; on the newspaper staff for three years, and as Student Council Secretary in her senior year.

When the Academy decided to close the high school, Paula decided that she needed to contact Oprah Winfrey. She was convinced that Oprah would listen to all of us, the class of '69, and help keep the high school open. Sadly, that did not happen, but somehow, many still believe, that if anyone could have made that happen, it would be P Brunelle.

Paula loved skiing, football and basketball, but most of all, she loved children. Her ambition was to teach challenged children, and to eventually marry and have ten children of her own. Countless lives have been affected by Paula's influence through her PMA years, and she lives on in the memories of all those lives she touched.

Paula posted a quote in the 1969 Year Book: "We live on the underside of Heaven, so let this be our guide: God will know us by our blossom when we reach the other side." (Martin Bixhaum)

It has been a true blessing to have been a friend of Paula's and we know she is smiling down from Heaven as she says "I'M SAVING A PLACE FOR EACH OF YOU, BUT NO RUSH, I'LL SEE YOU IN GOOD TIME."
