Pete was a good guy one of the big three coaches at Memorial always considered a good friend. Always had good advice on how Manchester operated politically. Gave a lot of his time to the city of Manchester.

When I first came up to Manchester in 1971 teaching at Memorial we went down to the Alibi Restaurant after a Friday Basketball game. I couldn't believe the group of coaches, officials etc having a few drinks(Pete probably bought the rounds) having yelled and screamed at each other during the games. Still friends I think?

Great times Pete was a great guy.

PETER: TIME HAS SURELY FLOWN BY SINCE YOU PASSED AWAY, BUT THAT HASN'T CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT YOUR WORK ON BEHALF OF YOUNG MEN IN OUR COMMUNITY WITH ALL THAT YOU DID WITH THE MANCHESTER BABE RUTH LEAGUES, YOU ARE STILL THOUGHT OF.

My sophomore year, Pete stuffed eight of us JV players, including Paul Zyla, Brian Gildea, George Stachokas, and myself into his Cadillac and drove us up to play the Tilton Prep school. After the game, he took us out to a nice restaurant and paid for everything. He was a nice, generous man. God bless him.

Growing up in Keene, I wasn't crazy about Pete because his Memorial teams beat some really good Keene teams, specifically '71. Then after college I got into the radio biz and when I got to Manchester discovered he was a great guy (to the surprise of none of you). It was fun and a privilege to broadcast Memorial's '82 championship on WKBR but it went beyond that. I'm glad I got to know Pete and happy he made such a positive impact on so many of you. RIP

It was a great honor to know Mr. Pete. He was larger than life and never forgot the little people. I can never forget him for that. He included me in the BRL trips to Anderson, IN (1965); Douglas, AZ (1966); and Anchorage, AK (1967). Great times; great memories. He will live forever n the minds of the multitudes he touched.

Condolences to the Poirier family. He had such a positive impact on my life as both an administrator (Babe Ruth baseball) and as an opposing coach (Memorial basketball). Always such a classy guy. Set a great example. Helped get so many of us on the right track. Will never be forgotten. Thank you Coach Poirier.

I never knew Peter personally but he was my Mom's first cousin (Loretta's ('Aunt Lotte')side). He looked just like my grandmother, so I always recognized him. I'm very sorry for your loss.

In my sports writing years at The Union Leader, it's impossible to raise a comparison to Pete --- the cigar-chomping hoop mentor from Memorial High School. Peter and I laughed volumes about that moniker after I pinned it on him many years ago in a column I authored. To his family and friends we extend our deepest sympathy at this sad time. That's As I see It .
