WARNER -- Phyllis Holden Macey died April 22, 2008.
She was born in Rochester in 1925 to Edward Wight Holden and Estelle Bennett Holden, attended Concord High School and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with an occupational therapy degree.
She spent many summers in Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesauke. She lived in Bow and Warner for the last three years. She also lived in Topeka, Sylvan Grove and Russell, Kan., northern Virginia and Tucson, Ariz.
During her years in Washington, D.C., she was active in the Congressional Club and was sufficiently well-regarded the rules were changed to allow her to continue as a member. The First Ladies Luncheon was one of her favorite endeavors.
In 1986, she married Benjamin A. Macey, her high school sweetheart, and spent 22 of her happiest years with him.
She was previously married to Lon Buzick and U.S. Sen. Bob Dole.
In addition to her husband, of Bow, the family includes daughter Robin Dole of Fairfax, Va.; sister Joyce Nash of Franklin, Mass.; stepchildren Gail Ackley of Tulsa, Okla., Holly Reeder of Newmarket, Diane Wright of Wichita, Kan., Ellen Fioretti of Henniker, Lee Macey of Palm Springs, Calif., Sara Macey of Canterbury and Lauren Williams of Wichita.
SERVICES: A calling hour is Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.
Memorial donations may be made to the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, 205 N. Main St., Concord 03301.
