Richard T. Plantier

BEDFORD - Richard T. Plantier, 78, formerly of Goffstown, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Ridgewood Health Care Center. He was affectionately known as "Trapper" or "Pops" to most.

Mr. Plantier was born in Manchester, on March 27, 1934. He was a resident of Bedford since 2003. Prior to this, he lived in Goffstown.

He was a veteran and served as a highly decorated firefighter in the Air Force. He was stationed at the old Grenier Field in Manchester and at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Plantier was self-employed as a tree service contractor and land developer. He and his son, Dick, owned and operated Big Beaver Land Clearing & Development. He also was a professional trapper. He was an avid woodsman, animal lover and had a philanthropist's heart. Mr. Plantier will be missed and remembered always.

Family members include his son, Dick Plantier of Bedford; a stepson, David Bouchard of Weare; a daughter, Valerie Layne of Princeton, N.J.; one stepdaughter, Yvonne McQuade of Manchester; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Plantier had nine brothers and sisters, including Gert Gott, 95 years old, and Marcel Plantier, the only surviving siblings known. Mr. Plantier was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette (Blouin) Plantier.

services:There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spit Brook Road, Nashua.
