Richard Edmund "Rick" Serodio

Richard "Rick" Serodio, 78, of East Sandwich, MA passed away peacefully on Friday June 20th, 2025, surrounded by family.

Predeceased by his parents, Ed & Marie Serodio and survived by his wife of 35 years Nancy Jansson, sister Linda O'Connell Parent and husband Donald Parent and children Matthew Serodio, his wife Kate, of Hampton, NH. and Carly Serodio of Los Angeles, CA, Carlton Schumacher, his wife Casey of Windom, NH and Brandi Schumacher of Strafford, CT. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Beau and Bria Serodio and Payton and Jack Schumacher and many nieces, nephews and a vast network of friends.

Born on July 14, 1946, Rick was raised in Sandwich, MA. He attended Burdett college in Boston, MA. He then moved to New Hampshire where he raised his family and had his successful career in business. Eventually settling back down in East Sandwich, MA.

Rick thrived in the hi-tech recruiting and software contracting business. He had a tremendous work ethic and leadership qualities that lead him to co-found three businesses, MAS (Management Advisory Services), Camelot Contractors, Ltd. and MAS Medical Staffing, LLC.

Rick had strong sense of service to his community and a love of sports. He enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams. In 1991, he was instrumental in starting the Manchester Bears football team which provided the opportunity for more kids to get involved in athletics.

Due to his success in business, he was able to retire at a young age which allowed him to his spend more time on his true passion of helping others. He began by coaching with Special Olympics, but it did not stop there, he eventually started four programs in communities throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Along the way, he was recognized by SONH as NH volunteer of the year. He has tremendous pride in all of the programs but was particularly fond the most recent program, the Sandwich Sailors.

Rick's greatest pleasure in life were his children. He was enormously involved in their lives and took great pride in his relationship with Carly and Matt. He was always at the ready with words of wisdom or a life lesson. In addition, Rick was a father figure and mentor to many of his kid's friends who he considered family.

One of the greatest joys in his later years was being able to spend time with his grandchildren, Beau and Bria. They had a very special relationship with their Geeka. Rick loved seeing his family gather on the Cape especially in the Summer on the beach.

Through all of his accomplishments he has been a role model for his family and for those that have been lucky enough to spend time with him. He will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours with the family will be held in Jenkins Hall at West Parish of Barnstable on Tuesday, July 1, 11:30am-12:45pm, followed by a Celebration of Life in the West Parish Meetinghouse at 1:00 pm.
