Robert Dufresne Obituary

Robert W. Dufresne, 86, of Manchester, died November 15, 2025. Bob was born in Lewiston, ME on June 19, 1939. He was the son of Nazaire and Lillian (Curran) Dufresne, and the brother of his beloved sister, Nancy.

Bob graduated from St. Dominic's High School, where he met his devoted wife, Ann M. (Guay). Bob and Ann were married in 1961. Over the years, they lived in Maine and Massachusetts before settling on Manchester's West Side, where they raised their four boys: Mark, Guy, Gary, and Eric. Bob was an active parishioner at the Parish of the Transfiguration (St. Jean-Baptiste), where he served on the parish council for many years.

Bob served for 36 years with the United States Army, on active duty, as a reservist, and as a civil servant. Bob worked his way through all the enlisted ranks. He retired in 1996 as a Chief Warrant Officer 5, the rarest and highest rank, recognizing unsurpassed technical and tactical mastery and strong leadership skills.

Bob made the most of his retirement years. He was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, ultimately serving as the Grand Master of the New Hampshire Grand Lodge and board member of Presidential Oaks (Odd Fellows Home). Bob and Ann travelled the world, with trips throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Bob's greatest joy was spending time with his family, including his four boys, their partners Liz, Kathleen, Tracy, and Alexandra, and his six grandchildren Stephanie, Alexander, Mark, Theodore, Ace, and Sabrina.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21st at 11 am in Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelley St, Manchester. Burial will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In his final years, Bob lived with Parkinson's disease. In lieu of flowers, his family hopes that you will consider donating to the food pantry of the Parish of the Transfiguration or to The Parkinson's Foundation.
