Robert Jolton Obituary

MANCHESTER - Robert Donald Jolton - husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to countless - died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at his longtime Manchester home. He was 84 years old.

Born in Lamar, Colo., in 1931, Bob's military service and longtime career as director of Jewish Federation was forever eclipsed by his devotion to his family, friends and community. Bob's greatest passion was his wife of nearly 50 years, Judith; their sons, Jeffrey and Steven (Lauren); and his beloved "Grand-Jewels," Isabel and Bailey, with whom he shared his last days.

As strong as Bob's love of family was his commitment to friends and community. He was unwavering in his devotion not only to Manchester's Jewish Community, but the community as a whole. Bob passing has left an indelible mark on all the people and projects he touched throughout his life, and his contributions will be deeply missed as much as he will be.

SERVICES: A funeral service is scheduled for noon on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Temple Adath Yeshurun, followed by burial in the Manchester Hebrew Cemetery. The family will be sitting Shiva on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6 to 8, with a Kaddish at 6:30 each evening.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Temple Adath Yeshurun Brotherhood Fund, 152 Prospect St., Manchester, NH 03104; and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.

Judith and family, no words can describe how deeply sorry I am. Bob was like a grandfather to me. At work we would have long conversations about what you all were up to, where he would be traveling and about my boys and how they were doing at school or in the sport they were currently playing. He would give me advice or opinions that I often used. My heart breaks walking into work with him no longer sitting side by side. I will cherish the days I have had and will always keep him close to my heart.

Dear Judith and family.

Jon and I were so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I will forever remember him as a man that was always willing to advise and counsel without judgment and offer assistance unconditionally and lovingly in any way he could. A true inspiration.

I am blessed and honored to be able to call him friend. My only regret is that I wasn't able to see him over the past several weeks, but I am comforted in knowing that his spirit and smile will shine brightly in the days and years to come and will live in my heart forever. He was quite a man and will be missed dearly.
