Robert Tibbetts Obituary

Robert A. Tibbetts, Jr., age 88, passed away on November 22, 2022, after a period of declining health.

He was born on February 12, 1934, to Robert A. and Katherine (Dearborn) Tibbetts. He attended schools in Manchester and graduated from Manchester Central High School.

Bob worked for 33 years for the Manchester Water Works, maintaining the area around Massabesic Lake. Prior to that, he was employed by the Public Service. He was a Master Mason for 62+ years, a member of the Free Mason Washington Lodge #61 since April 1, 1960.

Since retirement, he had many activities to occupy his time which included yard sailing, reading Westerns, wood working and cribbage playing. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing in the North Woods near Back Lake in Pittsburg, NH. Many have witnessed him calling loons by whistling through his hands and making friends with chipmunks.

He is survived by his wife, Claire (Roy) Tibbetts married for 68 years; two daughters, Linda Riley and husband George of Manchester, NH; Eileen Hawkins and husband John of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Jaime Hawkins and fiancé Logan Paul of Overland, Park, KS; Joshua Hawkins of Chapel Hill, NC; Tracy Conway and partner Jeff Champagne of Weare, NH; Brian Morris and wife Stephanie and great grandchildren, Vanessa and Tyler of Hooksett, NH; and his sister Ardyth Vachon of Bedford NH.

He was especially loved by his niece and nephews, Tammy and Bradley Newell and Scott and Chris Williams. A wide variety of acquaintances, family and friends will greatly miss his storytelling.

Calling hours will take place on Monday, November 28th, at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester from 3 to 6 PM with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home west room chapel at 6. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Bobby brought me to Pittsburg hunting and fishing when I just started working with him at the water works, I was just a teenager. Bob was always a kind man enjoying the outdoors and I enjoyed working with and latter on working for him. Rest in peace Bobby

Sorry for your loss, "uncle bobby" will be missed by many people from the Mobil on Hanover Street, he always got the "red carpet treatment" he was an amazing man, loved cracking jokes and tried to decline help any chance he got (we would always help). I know he was very loved and cared for and he will truly be missed.
