Roger Sevigny Obituary

MANCHESTER - Roger Sevigny, 95, of Manchester, passed away on Aug. 15, 2015, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

He was born in Manchester on Sept. 24, 1919, the son of Telesphore and Emma (Gagne) Sevigny and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester, spending most of his life on the West Side. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps World War II veteran. He worked for J.F McElwain and Myrna Shoes for many year and retired from Prevue Products. He also worked part time for Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium for more than 40 years. He was passionate about model railroading, going to the beach and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid walker and belonged to several Manchester walking groups. He enjoyed listening to big band music. He was also one of the oldest parishioners and longest members of Ste. Marie Church, belonging to the parish for over 90 years. He was the widower of Georgette (Bouvier) Sevigny who died in 2009.

Family members include his daughter, Jeanine Scanlon and her husband Shaun of Manchester; two sons, Ronald Sevigny and his wife Louise of Sanford, N.C. and Richard Sevigny of Manchester; four grandchildren, Kerry Soucy and her husband Dan of Manchester, Kevin Scanlon and his wife Jeshua of North Carolina, Stacey Zellers and her husband John of Virginia, and Brian Sevigny and his wife Kathy of Bedford; nine great-grandchildren, Alyssa Soucy, Jacob Sevigny, Joshua Soucy, Aidan Sevigny, Alysha Zellers, Kayden Scanlon, Kaileigh Zellers, Shayla Fenelon, and James Zellers; a brother-in-law, Marcel Bouvier of Texas; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

services: Calling hours will take place on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Ste. Marie Church. Graveside committal with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
