Roland Rene Obituary

NASHUA -- Roland L. Rene, 85, died Feb. 27, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua with his family at his side.

He was born on June 20, 1923, in Manchester, to Ludger and Amanda (Chavanelle) Rene. He was educated in the Manchester school system and attended St. Joseph High School for Boys.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He worked as a bailiff for the U.S. District Court in Concord for many years.

In his younger years, he played baseball. He was in the Conservation Corp at Mount Washington. In his later years, he enjoyed bowling and dancing. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Rolande (St. Hilaire) Rene, on April 17, 1987.

Family members include his wife of 19 years, Edna (LeClair) Rene of Nashua; two daughters, Gail Rene and Diane Rene, both of Manchester; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1 Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford 03110.

Phaneuf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Diane,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Your father and my father had alot in common-my Dad was in the Conservation Corps and WWII and was a big Boston Red sox fan too.
