ST. PARIS — Elmer J. Ropp, age 67, of Saint Paris passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in his residence. Born on July 21, 1950 in Piqua, OH, Elmer was the son of late Leonard and Laura (Bodey) Ropp.
He is survived by his three sons; Michael D Ropp of St. Paris, Eric M (Courtney) Ropp of Springfield and Warren L (Brandy) Ropp of DeGraff and eight grandchildren; Justin Ropp, Shania Mitchell, Nicolas and Heather Ropp, Brooke Dunlap, Leonard Ropp, Alexandria and Samuel Ropp. Additional survivors include three brothers, Nelson Ropp and William Ropp both of Urbana, and Edward (Caroline) Ropp of Dayton and two sisters; Esta Huffman of Urbana, Clara (Gene) Cupps of Lakeview.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Marion K Ropp, Sue Holbrook and Leona Minnich preceded him in death.
Elmer was a 1968 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion National Post and a founding and upstanding member of the Paleriders MC.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio with Mr. Chucky Taylor presiding. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery with military honors. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 3 p.m to 5 p.m in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Elmer's name to any Veterans organization of your choice or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton, 555 Valley Street, Dayton, Ohio 45404.
