ST. PARIS – Elwood "Woody" Baker, age 91, of St Paris, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in his daughter's residence.
He was born on June 25, 1930 in Westville, Ohio to the late Raymond G. and Edna (Rockel) Baker.
He married Alice McCain on January 14, 1950 and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2021.
Woody is survived by his daughter, Deby Williams of St Paris and one granddaughter, Lindsey (Kevin) Day and 10 great-grandchildren, Alex & Natalie Zerkle and Gabriel, Sophia, Hazel, Lucy, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Oliver Day.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Baker, grandson, David Zerkle, granddaughter, Dawn Zerkle, sister, Waveline Marshall and half sister, Judy Thompson.
Woody was a 1948 graduate of Johnson-St Paris High School and was a member of the St Paris United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed by Huffman, Inc., St. Paris and retired from Navistar, Springfield in 1992. He enjoyed painting, woodworking, gardening, golfing at Lakeland, camping and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the ATKINS-SHIVELY Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St, St Paris, Ohio with Pastor Jeff Richards of the Riversong Worship Center, North Lewisburg presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, St Paris, Ohio.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 5 p.m to 7 p.m in the funeral home.

So sorry for your loss on both accounts. I would have come had I seen the notice before now. I didn't know Alice had gone before Woody either. I enjoyed visiting with them both before and after my mother's death 18 yrs ago. Time flies... Its been a few years since I last saw them, but they will forever be in my heart as precious valued friends. My mom enjoyed her visits w them too.
