ST. PARIS - Jerry Richard Bishop, age 69, of DeGraff, OH passed away on March 29, 2021 in the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH.
Born on July 31, 1951 in Piqua, OH, Jerry was a son of the late Willis "Woody" and Dorothy (Wheaton) Bishop.
Jerry was a beloved husband and father. When he passed, a library of knowledge was lost along with volumes of wisdom and love for family and friends.
He married Donna Markley on November 14, 1970 and she survives along with their two children, Nikki (Kevin) Bishop Kallmeyer and Kelly (Jodi) Bishop, five grandchildren, Evey, Ana, Etienne Kallmeyer and Kole and Kaisley Bishop, brother, Clarence (Kathy) Bishop of Pahrump, NV and several extended family members also survive.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law Ralph and Magdalena Markley.
Jerry graduated in 1969 from Graham High School, St. Paris, OH and served for seven years in the Air National Guard. He worked for Conrail and CSX Railroad, farmed and was a former co-owner of Coral Video, St. Paris. He loved spending time with family and friends at their Tennessee lake house, boating, skiing, playing cards, golfing and bowling. Jerry was a member of the K of P Lodge, and Lakeland Golf Club, St. Paris, Champaign County Farm Bureau and the Bellefontaine Moose. He was a former 4-H Advisor for Concord Cloverleaf Cattle Club and enjoyed building tractors and participating in tractor pulls.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00 am in the ATKINS-SHIVELY FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield Street, St. Paris, OH 43072 with Pastor Nathan Wilcoxen officiating. Burial will follow in the Terre Haute Cemetery, St. Rt. 55, Urbana, OH 43078.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. K of P services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Facemasks and social distancing will be required.

Many memories over the years with Jerry. Unfortunately more memories should have happened as he is gone far too soon. I heard someone once say that if you were lost start talking politics and someone would show up. I knew that if I was lost that Jerry would have been the one to come to the rescue. Of course the discussion would have stopped then! If Jerry see's that he will laugh because he knows that I speak the truth. He lived life on his terms. So long my friend. Rest in peace Jerry.
