Send FlowersURBANA – Linda Lou (Brown) Butcher, 88 of Urbana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 in her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 17, 1937 in Grafton, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Beatrice (Pierce) Brown and LeRoy Brown.
Linda was a true giver, someone who would help anyone in need without hesitation. She found joy in simple, peaceful moments – sitting on the porch watching deer and birds, taking long rides through the country, or enjoying a meal at her favorite restaurants. She loved solving puzzles, trying her luck at slot machines, and shopping for purses and jewelry, which always brightened her day.
Most of all, Linda deeply loved her family, finding her greatest happiness in their presence, their visits, and the many memories they shared.
She is survived by her children: Troy (Darlene) Butcher, Jr., John (Ethel) Butcher, Jack (Nan) Butcher, Jimmy Alan Butcher, Barbara (Dan) Clark, Joyce (Ben) Tackett, Jerry (Nancy) Butcher, and Patricia Mumaw; and her half-daughter, Jeanette (Richard) Adkins; her grandchildren: Shawnda Butcher, Obery (Hunter) Taylor, John Christopher Butcher, Amanda, Cindy, Gary, Jack (Morgan) Butcher, Jared (Taylor) Butcher, Troy Butcher, Amber (Darren) Clark, Ashley (Danny) Sisler, Craig (Kim) Butcher, Mark Cox, Luke (Shallane) Cox, Tiffany (Matthew) Smith, Bryce Butcher, and Mindy Mumaw.
She was blessed with 30 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Billy (Sandy) Brown, Lee (Belinda) Brown, Rocky (Dawn) Brown, Peggy (Archie) Rowand, and Fay (Dan) Kirkpatrick.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Butcher, Sr.; her parents, Beatrice and LeRoy Brown; daughter, Mary Burke; half-daughters, Joann Roberts, and Judy (Nelson) Reed; son-in-law, Gail Roberts; grandchildren, Nathan Butcher and Jennifer Butcher; brothers and sisters, Larry Brown, June (Charles) Martin, Susan (Frank) Dadisman, Evelyn (Charlie) Frey, Patricia Jeanette Brown, and Rusty Allen.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025 at WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana, Ohio, followed by burial in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Set n' Stone for Linda's monument, honoring her memory with the dignity and love she shared throughout her life.
