ST. PARIS – Lois Elizabeth Humphlett, 98 of St. Paris, Ohio (formerly of Seal Beach, CA), passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Lois was born on July 26, 1927 in Breckenridge, TX, and raised by her parents Ruby L (Johnson) and A.O. Herndon.
Lois enjoyed a lifelong passion for interior design and decorating. She was a creative spirit who found joy in sculpture, mural painting, sailing, and traveling abroad. Her artistic eye and adventurous nature touched every part of her life.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Carol (John Dooley) Cox-Dooley, Audrey Hayward, and Cindy (Tracy) Kimnach; her grandchildren, Jodi Shinney, Anna Marie (Frank) Trivino, Jennifer Seeberg, Steven Shinney, Misty McCoy-Hussey (Devin Hussey), Shauna McCoy, Kate (Chris Heiser) Heiland, Christopher (Rebecca) Marland, and Melissa (Todd) Lemoine; and 12 great-grandchildren, Sheniece (Clint) Chadwick, Veda (Ethan) Eggleston, Quade Layton, McCoy Hursh, Itaha Hursh, Donovan Hursh, Lauren Hostetler, Troyer Hostetler, Emma Hostetler, Sydney Heiser, Colton Lemoine, and Eleanor Marland. She is also survived by one great-great grandson, Austin Eggleston, and two brothers, Dale (Josie) Herndon and Donald (Gretchen) Herndon and 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M. Humphlett; her parents; and her stepson, Charles E. Humphlett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 in the Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, U.S. 36, St. Paris with Pastor Dale Thompson officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m.
Graveside services will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cypress, California, at a later date and time to be announced by the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to ATKINS, SHIVELY & VERNON Funeral Home, St. Paris, Ohio.
