MECHANICSBURG – Mary Lee Simpson, 86, a lifelong resident of Mechanicsburg, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023 in Trustwell Living at Urbana Place.
She was born March 4, 1937 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio the daughter of Florence (Bobo) and Ellsworth Lee Spangler.
Mary Lee graduated in 1955 from Mechanicsburg High School and continued to support her alma mater throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Mechanicsburg Church of Our Savior and she also attended the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in both church choirs. For many years Mary Lee was a co-owner of Spangler's Florists. She also enjoyed working at Woodland Golf Course.
She was a member of FOE 3974 Auxiliary and enjoyed a great many hours of fun playing cards with the girls at Castles. Her interests also included crafts, car club plus traveling to different antique markets in search of different treasures!
She loved her family and friends and spent a great deal of time with them.
Mary Lee is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Lee (Mark) Howley and Wendy Simpson (Rhonda Ball); her grandchildren, Joanna Howley and John-Mark (Marci) Howley and her great-grandsons, Jackson and Jonah Howley; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband John "Jack" Simpson.
The family would like to thank the Trustwell Living community and staff for the wonderful care given to Mary Lee.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 in the Mechanicsburg Church of Our Savior with Father Tim West and Father Derrick Fetz officiating. Following the service the family invites everyone to a Celebration of Mary Lee's life to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Ayers Family Farms Event Center, 4381 Rosedale Rd., Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
In spirit of Mary Lee's alma mater please dress comfy in Purple & Gold.

I´ll always remember walking in her room and seeing her smile, she would always bright up my day at work and Joke around, we would sit and talk about car shows, I loved Mary so much, she felt like she was family.

Sad to hear of Mary Lee's passing. She was a wonderful lady who was so good to us kids who worked and played at Woodland while she was there. Thinking of her family during this challenging time.
