MECHANICSBURG – Raymond Eugene Scheiderer, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, in Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was born on Jan. 19, 1940, in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, to the late Lewis John and Opal (Douglas) Scheiderer. Raymond attended Mechanicsburg High School. Following high school, Raymond worked as a carpenter and a mason; he later retired from Navistar after many years of service.
Raymond married the love of his life Linda Byerly on Sept. 4, 1962, in Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. Family was everything to Raymond. He took great pride in being the best husband, father, and grandfather he could be. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling to new places and trying his luck at casinos. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was a member of Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F. & A.M, F.O.E #3974 as well as UAW #402.
Raymond is survived by his son, Steve (Julia) Scheiderer; his daughters, Sharon (Jon) Leeson and Sandy (Matt) Mayberry; his brother, Loren (Sheila) Scheiderer; his sister, Joan (Ron) Scheurer; his grandchildren, Zach Scheiderer, Kyle (Kelly) Mayberry, Morgan Leeson, Lauren (Roland) Newsome, Peyton "Sluggo" Leeson, and Eli "Spike" Mayberry; great- grandchildren Noah Mayberry, Ryder Newsome with one on the way, Jaynie Mayberry, as well as special niece, Ann Smith.
Raymond is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Sue Scheiderer; his parents; his brothers Don, Jim, Jerry, and Dave; his sisters, Marian, and Barbara; his grandson Lance.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, in SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26,2023 in the funeral home with Rev. Paul Schlueter officiating.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 7960 St. Rt. 38, Milford Center, Ohio 43045.
