Richard Lynn Brecount

ST. PARIS – Richard Lynn Brecount, 87 of St Paris, Ohio, died on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025 at home with family at his side.

Richard was born on Nov. 4, 1938 in Champaign County to the late Ralph Fredrick Brecount and Helen Moneta (Mitchell) Brecount. Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Brenda Brecount, in 2024.

After graduating from Johnson St. Paris High School in 1956, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Huachuca in Arizona. He retired from Navistar, Springfield, Ohio. Richard was a member of the Knights of Pythias.

He is preceded in death by his brother James Brecount, sister Sondra Eaton and brother-in-law, Kermit Eaton.

Surviving is his son Greg (Patricia) Brecount, daughters Shelley Brecount and Mindy Brecount; grandchildren, Lauren (Mark) Hall, Alyssa Fagan, sister-in-law, Sue Brecount, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Richard enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, fishing, hunting, shooting skeet, camping, spending quality time in nature, vacationing and most of all, enjoying hummingbirds with his wife, Brenda.

Graveside services will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Spence officiating.

The interment of his loving wife, Brenda with Richard will occur at both of their wishes. May they forever enjoy a wonderful and loving afterlife together.
