HUNTSVILLE – Richard Jeffery "Rick" Lokai of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up on Busy Acres – the Lokai farm in Urbana where he learned the value of hard work, as well as many skills that served him well during his lifetime.
Rick graduated from Urbana High School where he was active in track and field sports. Following graduation, he worked in the Urbana area prior to entering the U. S. Air Force where he was trained as a jet engine mechanic and served primarily at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Following his discharge, he lived and worked briefly in Baltimore, Maryland, before returning to Ohio where he joined the Honda Motor Company in Marysville where he worked until retirement.
Rick was known for his strong work ethic and strong sense of family. He was a "Jack of all trades" and was ever ready to put those skills to work for friends and family. He was especially expert at and enjoyed all forms of welding. He was an avid Buckeye fan and, in particular, loved following the football team.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife Cheri, by his sister Frances Lokai and by his adopted parents Frank and Elva Lokai.
He is survived by his mother, Jan (Jim) Albright and his siblings: Larry (Elaine Caldwell) Lokai, Rosalie (Wayne) Deri, Jim Lokai, Mike (Robin) Lokai, Nancy (Frank) Baldwin, Angela (Bob) Greenlee, Cecelia (Ben) Minnich, Nick Albright and Nathaniel (Madeleine) Albright.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
