URBANA - Roger L. Terry, 83 of Urbana, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital.
Roger was born September 9, 1937 in Urbana Ohio, the son of the late Alice C. (Stallsmith) and Homer L. Terry. He was a graduate of Urbana Local High School. He served his country in the United States Air National Guard. Roger was a lifelong farmer and retired after 21 years as a school bus driver for the Urbana City Schools. He was a member of the Urbana Methodist Church. Roger enjoyed farming, golfing, bowling, tractor pulls and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Most importantly he enjoyed his pets, spending time with his grandchildren & great-grandchild, and going to the local fairs. Roger was a member of the Champaign County Farm Bureau, Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A.M., Champaign Co. Republican Party, a 32-year board member of the Champaign County Board of Elections, 34-year member and past president of the Champaign County Fair Board.
Roger is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley J. (Shopshire) Terry whom he married on November 2, 1962; sons, Mike (Samantha) and Steve (Hyun Joo) Terry; daughter, Colleen (Ray) Jackson; grandchildren, Hillary Jackson, Ella (Jonathan) King, Samuel Jackson, Luke Jackson, Gauge Terry, Gabby Terry, and Gloria Terry; great grandson Ezekiel King; brother Lewis (Carol) Terry; along with several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Masonic service will follow at 5 p.m. Services will be provided by Harmony Lodge #8 F. & A.M. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday March 22, 2021 in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating.
Burial will follow at OakDale Cemetery, Urbana Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, P.O. Box 38125 Urbana, OH 43078.
