MECHANICSBURG - Thomas Nott, 85, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 in his home with his family by his side.
Tommy was born June 20, 1935 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the son of the late Grover and Blanche (Duncan) Nott. He was a 1955 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. Tom was inducted into the Mechanicsburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. He was a former youth baseball & softball commissioner and coach. He was instrumental in starting the first Peewee Tackle Football in Mechanicsburg. He was a former president of the Mechanicsburg Athletic Boosters. He helped to start the 4-H Blue-Ribbon Dairy Club and was a member of the Tri-County Coon hunters Association. He enjoyed coon hunting, John Deere tractors and sports.
Tom worked as a mechanic at Mark Francis John Deere Dealership, then retired from Navistar International after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Piper, Deborah (Jim) Moore, Nancy (Bill) Rausch, Hope (Jason) Thompson, Thomas (Jenni) Nott and John Nott; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Marge) Nott, Steve (Sharon) Nott, Lawrence (Donna) Nott, Elizabeth Waldnig, Judy Bostick, Mary Frances Howard, Kayceal (Bill) Bostick, Diane (Dennis) Penhorwood, Matilda (David) Orahood, Linda (Eric) Dearmond and Donna Jean (Ronnie) Laird; special sister-in-law Sue (Dave) Roland; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Janet R. (Hayes) Nott; second wife, Kathy (LeMaster) Nott; siblings, O'Dell Nott, Billy Nott, Louise (Nott) Martinez and Betty Lou Adams; and a grandson, Ben Anderson.
Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
Private funeral service will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 with Pastor Jim Mayo officiating.
Burial will follow Union Cemetery, Cable, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, 257 W. Main Street, Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044.
