Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother
WHITESBORO - Mrs. Barbara Barth Joswick, 75, of Whitesboro, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford, with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was born in Utica on January 26, 1941, the daughter of John and Beatrice (Gates) Barth. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 23, 1958, Barbara married Stephen M. Joswick at Olivet Presbyterian Church. For 30 years, Barbara was employed with Martin Luther King School in Utica. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Utica, a member and past secretary of the Road-Knights of Central New York Car Club, and she also took sign language classes.
Mrs. Joswick is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shari and Kenneth Shobe, of GA, and Vicki and Thomas Borgia, of GA; one brother, John Barth, of Albany; as well as eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, two nieces, two nephews, and her faithful canine companion, Sophie. She was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen Joswick, and a daughter, Debra DeNigro.
Mrs. Joswick's funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday (today) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.

Barbara has been a close cousin and wonderful friend for all of my life. She has laughed with me, cried with me and gave me encouragement when I needed it. I will miss our talks. She will forever be in my heart. I love you all and wish I could be there for you.
