CHRISTY SODINI KING

Christy Sodini King passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 27, at approximately 8:18 p.m., surrounded by family and friends. Christy, the daughter of Leno and Dorothy Sodini, was born January 9, 1961; she attended St. Agnes Academy, and Memphis’ Country Day School and was a graduate of the University of Memphis. Christy, a communicant at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, was an active member of the Holy Rosary Mother’s Club and other civic organizations, as well as being deeply involved in initiatives benefiting the Bodine School. She worked for 30 years as a manager for Target Department Stores, but was prouder still of her career as a mother; always putting her children first, she devotedly cared for her special needs daughter, and a son who was the light of her life. Christy was recently preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Lynn Turner, and is now joined once more with her eldest child and beloved parents. She is survived by her son, Michael King; his father Mike King; big sisters, Lisa Sodini and Cheryl Sodini, as well as her brother Greg and his wife Deborah Sodini. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Bodine School at 2432 Yester Oaks Drive, Germantown TN 38139.
