David M. Morrissey, Sr. 1967 - 2021
MOHAWK - Mr. David M. Morrissey, Sr., 54, of Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
David was born in Whitesboro, on March 11, 1967, the son of Milton B. and Mary Lourdes (Mann) Morrissey. He was raised and educated in Whitesboro and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. After graduation, David enlisted and proudly served 4 years in the US Navy. At one time, David was married to Debra Thrasher Morrissey. David was a skilled carpenter and early in his career, worked in the construction/carpentry field. He was currently employed with The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Ilion, a job he truly loved.
David enjoyed music and found great joy and peace at his camp on Canadarago Lake, boating and spending time with family and friends.
David is survived by his loving companion, Sheila Burth, of Mohawk; his five cherished children, Amber Thrasher, of Waterville, Specialist Gabrielle Morrissey, US Army Reserves, of Mohawk, Sergeant David "DJ" M. Morrissey, Jr., US Army Reserves, of Mohawk, Caleb Morrissey, of Schuyler and Matthew Forbes, of Herkimer; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorrie and Richard Lenaghen, of Prospect and Tami Morrissey and her partner, Rachael, of Albany; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Susan Morrissey, of TX and Canastota, Patrick and Rosemary Morrissey, of Utica and James and Angela Morrissey, of Utica; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Jake.
He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Mary Lourdes; and two sisters, Amy Morrissey and Jennifer Morrissey Forbes.
Visitation for family and friends is on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a Prayer Service at 3:00 at the conclusion of visitation.
