NEW HARTFORD/ HOLLAND PATENT - Duane E. Roser, 67, of New Hartford and formerly of Holland Patent, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2016, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on June 22, 1948, in Utica, a son of the late Edmund and Vivyan (Shaler) Roser. He was a graduate of Holland Patent High School. Duane served his country, with honor, in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
On August 29, 1981, in Marcy, he was united in marriage to Helen Humphrey, a blessed union, of over 34 years, filled with much love and mutual devotion. He was employed with the Town of Floyd, retiring in 2002, after 30+ years of dedicated service.
He was a member of the American Legion Leon R. Roberts Post 161 in Holland Patent. Duane was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved his family and cherished the time that he spent with his adored grandchildren. He loved fishing, hunting and camping on Piseco Lake. It truly was his grandchildren and family who brought him the greatest joy in his life.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Roser, of New Hartford; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laurie Roser, of Verona; his cherished grandchildren, Marty and Katie Roser, of Verona; a sister, Debbie Roberts, and her husband, Richard, of Holland Patent; four sister-in-laws and four brother-in-laws; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, for the wonderful care, complemented by true compassion, that was given to Duane and his family during his illness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 AM, at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro, with Jill Farnham, US Chaplin of Hospice Care, officiating. Military Honors will follow the Memorial Service. Interment will be private in Carr Cemetery in Marcy. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
