Edwin A. Ratcliffe, Sr.
Winter Haven, Fla./Bridgewater
Edwin A. Ratcliffe, Sr., passed away on August 27th at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Winter Haven, Fla. He was the son of Robert and Bertha Ratcliffe of Newington, Ct., born on September 29, 1925. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Winter Haven, and his children and their spouses, Ken and Karen, Peter and Gloria, Susan, David and Sharon, Mary and Rich, Tim and Anne, and Ed and Mary; his grandchildren, Scott, Robert, Christopher, Peter, Michael, Patrick, Jolee, Daniel, Ed, Stacey, Kendra, Andy, Brian, Katie, Jason, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Tony, Brad, Teddy and Max; great-grandchildren, Allison, Madison, Aubrey, Hayley, Karma, Emilee, Megan and Bryce; and numerous nephews and nieces. He also leaves his sisters, Jean Beaudoin, Auburndale, Fla., and Nancy Grover, Newington, Ct. He was predeceased by his wives, Jean and Mary; his son, Steven; brothers, Bob and Norman; and his sister, Carol Dalphin. Ed was a Marine Veteran, serving in WW II. He was at one time active in the Bridgewater Fire Department, Mount Markham School Board and various other community activities. He retired from the Observer-Dispatch. Ed was a vivacious man, full of life, loved a good debate and a good conversation. A graveside service will take place on September 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in North Bridgewater. Please join Ed's family for a celebration of his life following his service at the VFW in West Winfield at 11:30. Donations in his memory may be made to the local Hospice, Middlesettlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413 or The Rescue Mission, 214 Rutger Street, Utica, NY 13501.
