Eloise T. Whyte, 98, of Englewood, Florida, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 13th, 2013. She was born in Morton, Mississippi, the daughter of Dr. Junius Townsend and Lila Gray Townsend. Eloise was predeceased by her husband, Harold J. Schug, who died in 1959. She later married the now-deceased William H. Whyte. Mrs. Whyte taught Kindergarten in Utica, New York, for two decades. After retiring to Deerfield Beach, Florida, she continued to be an avid bridge player, while taking up golf and square dancing. Mrs. Whyte is survived by two daughters, Diane Schug Basch, of Englewood, Florida, and Sandra Schug Stevens (Thomas L. Stevens), of Fort Mill, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Lisa Basch Johnson, of Boulder, Colorado, Jeffrey D. Basch, of Oakland, California, Michael W. Basch, of Suwanee, Georgia, John F. Christensen, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Kristine D. Stevenson, of Perry Hall, Maryland; and twelve great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. Mrs. Whyte was cremated and a service will be held in Harperville, Mississippi, on Sunday, September 1st.
