Gary Cappelli Obituary

Gary Michael Cappelli
New Hartford
Gary Michael Cappelli, of New Hartford, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the St. Luke's Home, after a long illness.
Gary was born June 10, 1953, in Utica, NY, a son of Ambrose and Gloria Cappelli. Gary attended New Hartford schools. After graduating from Mohawk Valley Community College, he joined his father in operating the Appliance Service Center on Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford. After closing the business, Gary joined Mohawk Limited where he worked as Electronic Technician, as well as at Jay-K as a lighting salesman until his illness.
Gary enjoyed music, particularly The Beatles, and played drums and piano with several area bands. He was also an avid family camper, Utica Curler, and motorcyclist, who was particularly proud of the 1947 Harley Davidson, "Ursula", he meticulously restored and rode regularly. His contagious good humor and laugh will be sorely missed.
Gary is survived by his beloved mother, Gloria Cappelli, of New Hartford, NY; three children: son, Michael and wife, Perryn, of Rochester, NY; son, Christopher and wife, Christina, of State College, PA; and daughter, Amber Marie Cappelli, of Whitesboro, NY; and former wife, Janice Cappelli, also of Whitesboro. He is also survived by two sisters: Amber Monteith and her husband, Jerome, of Madison, CT; sister, Terese Sutkowski and her husband, Larry, of Delmar, NY; and dear friend, Kathy Britt, of Whitesboro, NY. He was predeceased by his father, Ambrose Cappelli, who died in 1995.
The funeral will be on Tuesday at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.

To Gary's family: so sorry to hear of Gary's passing...we've been away from Utica for a long time and didn't know he was ill. Gary played drums in Private Stock band with Jim...we loved his good nature, humor, and smile...they had a lot of fun together. So sorry for your loss, Jim and Kate Hagan

Gary was my very first official boyfriend, and at the age of 13 he asked me to go steady!! Well, I was thrilled, of course, but we could not say or use the word "love", so we decided that we were in "like" with each other. From that day forward, we were each other's "Liker".
Always and forever - your "Liker", Rhonda
Peace and love.
