Harold Burr Obituary

Harold D. Burr 1928 - 2017
UTICA - Mr. Harold D. Burr, 88, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, in New Hartford, with his loving family by his side.
Harold was born in Augusta, NY, on September 3, 1928, the son of Karl and Hazel (Higgins) Burr. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force. On November 3, 1951, Harold married Mildred (Millie) L. Perry, a loving and devoted union of 62 years until Mildred's death in 2014. For over 30 years, Harold was employed with Revere Copper and Brass, in Rome. He was a sports enthusiast, whose favorite teams included the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and NY Yankees. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt. Harold was a member of the Eagles Club, participated in several local bowling leagues, most notably the Saturday Night Benders, and enjoyed playing in shuffleboard leagues and tournaments. He was a quiet man, who will be remembered as a "gentle giant", who loved his family unconditionally. His greatest joy came from family trips to the beach, fishing and especially, attending his grandchildren's many sporting events of which he was their biggest fan.
Mr. Burr is survived by his beloved children: daughters, Patricia (Patty) Cittadino and Beverly Garner and Dave Brown, all of Utica; sons, David Burr and Carl Burr, both of Utica; cherished grandchildren, Amy, Amanda, David, Lyndi and her husband, Jeremiah, Danielle and her husband, Matt, Carl, Jr., Anthony, Sam, Patrick, Jr. and his wife, Katelyn, Sean, Ryan and Anthony Ray; as well as several adored great-grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his daughters-in-law, Lynne Burr, Mary Lou Burr and Lori (Burke) Burr-Talerico; and former son-in-law, Philip Cittadino. He was predeceased by his sons, Harold Burr, Jr., and Patrick P. Burr; brothers, Everett (Ed) Burr and Melvin Burr; and sister, Louise Douglas.
Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday (today), March 22, 2017, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A final prayer and blessing will be offered at 7:00 p.m., at the conclusion of the calling hours. His interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Mr. Burr's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the ICU at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, especially, Sebina, Heather, MaryAnn and Jolene, for the compassion you showed and wonderful care you provided to Harold.

To the Harold Burr Family-- Carl, David, Beverly and Anthony Garner, So very sorry to learn of your dear father's passing on. I would walk by your house on Kossuth Ave. and would see him sitting on the front porch in past days. May he now rest in peace with your Mom. God Bless, and take care. I know Patty Kennedy.
