Herbert Clarke Obituary
SCHUYLER - Mr. Herbert L. Clarke, 81, of Schuyler, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018.
Herbert was born in Utica on September 6, 1936, a son of the late Howard A. and Edna (Bean) Clarke. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1955 graduate of Utica Free Academy. Herb honorably served in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1959-1965. On November 7, 1959, Herb was united in marriage with Helena P. Beck at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Utica. At one time, Herb was the owner of Clarke Printing in New Hartford and, for many years, was employed with General Electric Company, retiring in 1993. Herb was a singer, trumpet player and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the church choir. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family camp in the Adirondacks.
Mr. Clarke is survived by his beloved wife, Helena; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Timber, of Valatie, NY; a son, Loran D. Clarke, of Syracuse; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leila Hillman, of Whitesboro, Edna and Dick Springer, of Whitesboro, and Val Pollard, of Utica; as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by six brothers, Lewis, Howard, Theodore, George, William and Robert, and four sisters, Aurelia Zoellner, Emma Looft, Ruth Evans and Nancy Pollard.
In keeping with Herb's wishes, there are no calling hours. A private burial will be in West Schuyler Cemetery, Schuyler, NY.
