NORTH UTICA - Joan C. Dziok, age 77, of N. Utica, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home with her beloved family by her side.
She was born in Utica, on June 2, 1940, a daughter of the late John and Emily (Maciol) Dziok. She was a 1958 graduate of Whitesboro High School.
Joan was employed for many years with Chicago Pneumatic Co. of Utica and the Federal Reserve Bank of Rome. She was an avid crafter and regularly visited craft shows and designed fashion jewelry.
Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Dziok, of Utica, with whom she lived and who lovingly and unselfishly cared for and looked after Joan during her years of illness, Gloria and Philip Enea, of Utica, Marilyn and Charles Adams, of Lake City, FL and Carol and Luciano Centra, of Utica; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Joan Dziok, of New Hartford and Robert and Sandy Dziok, of Greece, NY; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins, most especially, Jennifer Centra, who enjoyed a special relationship with Joan and to whom Joan was a second mother and best friend; and cousin, Jane Dunbar, in every way another beloved sister. Joan was predeceased by one brother, John Dziok.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Carol, who took on the very difficult task of being Joan's advocate for the past four years and to Gloria and Marilyn and Rev. Fr. Stephen Enea, who also provided loving, tender and thoughtful care to Joan. Thank you also to Joan's medical team, doctors and nurses. We will never forget your kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joan's Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
