John (Jeff) Flood 1950 - 2016
NEW HARTFORD - John (Jeff) Flood, of New Hartford, passed away on May 11, 2016.
He was born May 3, 1950, in Flushing, NY, the son of the late Dr. John and Leila Flood. He graduated from Regis High School in New York City, Fordham University and then pursued a masters degree in Hospital Administration at Cornell University.
Jeff married Maryann Armbrister on January 31, 1976, in Portsmouth, OH.
After many years as a hospital administrator he came to Utica and retired as a Vice President of Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Jeff was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. He served as President of the Board of UCP for 17 years.
He was an avid history buff, especially when it came to presidential history, the civil war and WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann; his son, Daniel Flood, his wife Touch, along with his grandson, Kevin, and soon-to-arrive second grandson, Lucas, of Rochester, NY; his daughters, Amy Flood, of Albany, and Catherine, alongside her fiancé, Phil D'Alessandro, of New Hartford; two sisters, Maureen Worthing, and her husband, Tom, and Sharon Flood, of Schenectady; his brother­-in-­law, William L. Ambrister, of Portsmouth, OH; his nieces and nephews, Alix Ashe, of Schenectady, Jed Hayden, of Glens Falls, NY, Andrew Armbrister, of Portsmouth, OH, and Carrie Mae Arauco, of Columbus, OH.
The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care, including Dr. Kevin Matthews, and to the staffs of the ICU of St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Faxton­St. Luke's Healthcare for all of their excellent care given to Jeff.
Calling hours are Sunday, from 2­5, at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

We were both shocked and very saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. I remember the many times he and Maryann would go to breakfast with my mother and I and Raspberry's, and the great times we had. We was a wonderful person, and we'll miss him terribly.
