Louise Libich

Louise Libich, 87, a longtime New York Mills resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2012, at her residence, with her loving family and close friends at her side. She was born in Poland, Europe, on January 28, 1925, the daughter of Mikal and Wiera Golikowna VonBock, and was married to Bronislaw (Benny) Libich on August 4, 1946, a loving union of 57 years until his death on June 20, 2002. Louise was employed with the Utica Duxbak Co. for over 30 years, until her retirement in 1986. After retirement, she worked briefly at Cramer's Dress Shop in New Hartford. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Utica. Louise was known as "Mom" to many who got to know her. She had a quiet, cheerful disposition. In earlier years, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also loved to cook and bake, preparing family favorite ethnic dishes. Louise adored her family and home. She would often be seen manicuring the grounds around her home. She was known to the neighborhood children who would look forward to the homemade desserts she had prepared for when they returned home from school. She is survived by a son and his wife, Bernard and Mary Ann Libich, of Roanoke, IN; a daughter and son, Marlene Libich and Lester Libich, of New York Mills; grandsons, James, of Fort Wayne, IN, Jeffrey, of Indianapolis, IN, and Brian and his wife, Karen, of Indianapolis, IN; two great-grandchildren, her little angels, Mia and Abby; a sister, Eugenia Dorash, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and two brothers and their wives, Michael and Eve Bock, of British Columbia, Canada, and George and Roma Bock, of Bytom, Poland. Also included are many nieces and nephews living in Buffalo, California, Florida, Canada, Germany and Poland; her dear friends, Linda Soron and Patricia Ulinski, who were like daughters to her; and her friends, Anthony and Michelle DeCicco and Eric and Maryellen Manley. She was predeceased by her sister, Vera Kowalski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica. The family of Louise would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Gunnar Anderson, NP Joanne Millson and their dedicated staff, Jennifer and Donna, for the many years of compassionate care given to her, and also a special thank you to Julie and Irene from Hospice.
