Mary Anna Obituary

Mary Gagan Anna
New Hartford
Mary Gagan Anna, 86, of New Hartford, entered into eternal rest November 6, 2012, at her home, after a prolonged illness. Mary was born on November 4, 1926, in Utica, N.Y., the daughter of John Bernard Gagan and Mary Agnes Reilly. She received her education at Blessed Sacrament School, Utica Catholic Academy, very proudly graduating in 1948 from the College of Saint Rose in Albany. She married Frederick J. Anna on April 23, 1949, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Utica, enjoying 53 years of a happy union in the home they built together in New Hartford until Fred passed away in 2003. She was a founding member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in New Hartford, a member of the Golden Roses from the College of St. Rose, the Clinton Road Seniors Group, Sit & Stitch, and the "Ladies Lodge". She is survived by her children: Kathleen Gayle Anna of New Hartford; Margaret and Dan Harder of Old Forge and New York City; John (Jack) Anna of New Hartford; David and Susan Bremer Anna of Chapel Hill, NC, and their children, Michael, Bryan, Mark and Kathrynne Paige; William and Cathy Anna of Oxford, NC, and their children, Kyle and Douglas Anna and Court and Caitlin Satterwhite; and Kenneth (K.C.) and Keana Hourigan Anna of Huntington Bay, Long Island, and their children, Brady, Taigue and Marley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Anna, Gagan and Collea families. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Carole Gagan Collea, and her brothers, Bernard and John Gagan. Her life-long commitment to intellectual curiosity and love of reading was matched only by her artisanship in ceramics, needlepoint and golf and outdone only by her consummate loving skills as a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 AM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, and at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Church, 150 Clinton Rd., New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery in New Hartford. Calling hours will be Thursday (today) from 4-7 PM. Very special thanks to the most compassionate staff of care-givers at Hospice. Kindly consider their wonderful organization Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., or the St. Thomas Church Memorial Fund in Mary's memory.
