Peter Ratcliffe Obituary
Cassville
Peter N. Ratcliffe, Sr., 63, of Cassville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Faxton St. Lukes Health Care surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 6, 1950 in Hartford, CT a son of the late Edwin and Jean (Peterson) Ratcliffe Sr. He served his country with Honor in the United States Navy onboard the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier. On August 7, 1976 at St. Patricks Church in Clayville he was united in marriage to Gloria Gustavson a blessed union of over 36 years. Peter was a master craftsman who owned and operated his own construction business for over 40 years He was well known throughout the area for his excellent workmanship. He was a volunteer fireman for the Cassville Fire Dept. a duty that he truly enjoyed and was honored to perform. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his three sons, Peter Norman Ratcliffe, Jr. of Cassville, Michael Paul Ratcliffe of Herkimer, and Patrick Mark Ratcliffe also of Herkimer. He also leaves his siblings, David Ratcliffe and his wife Sharon of West Winfield, Mary Monahan of Ilion, Tim Ratcliffe and his wife Ann of Bridgewater and Edwin Ratcliffe and his wife Mary of West Winfield; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Ken and Steven Ratcliffe. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bridgewater. There are no public calling hours. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home 365 West Main St.West Winfield. Peter was such an important part of my childhood....I will always remember him as my favorite! He was always there to greet us with a big hug whenever we drove into that Rt. 20 driveway (which was frequently). Rest in peace sweet cuz, you're in good company. Gloria and boys, you have my sincere sympathies, as does the rest of my cousins.

My deepest sympathy to the Ratcliffe family. I will cherish our childhood memories forever. When we would visit Uncle Eddies' house we wouldn't even be out of the car and Peter would be yelling "Uncle Norman!" He always had a special place in my Dads' heart. RIP dear cousin.

Deepest sympathy. Pete was a friend, a co-parishioner of St Patricks. and worked tirelessly for our Fire Department. We talked about our dogs when he worked on our house. So very sad.
