Richard P. LaMonte
New Hartford
Richard P. LaMonte, 75, of New Hartford, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare. Richard was born on March 8, 1933, in Utica, the son of Augustine and Helen Olszewski LaMonte. He attended Utica Free Academy and was a journeyman electrician and proud member of IBEW Local 191 (43). On November 23, 1962, he married Shirley Pfluke in St. Peter's Church, North Utica. They shared a loving union of 45 years. Richard was especially proud of his days as a bat boy for the Utica Blue Sox with his boyhood friend, Bob Powers of Albany, NY. He also shared a passion for golf and bowling. Surviving are his wife and best friend, Shirley; brother, Augustine P. LaMonte; sister,Carolyn Kupiec and her husband, Gerald; mother-in-law, Lucy Pfluke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Richard Budlong; brother-in-law, Ronald Pfluke; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and several Godchildren. Richard also leaves special friends, Ed and Evie Griffiths of Parrish, FL and Jim and Mary Talbot of Delmar, NY. Richard was predeceased by his parents; nephew, Greg LaMonte; sister-in-law, Florence LaMonte; and father-in-law, Lynn Pfluke. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford. The family will receive guests at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Remembrances in Richard's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
