Robert Allen Obituary
WEST WINFIELD - Robert M. Allen, 73, of West Winfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
He was born on April 17, 1945 in Cooperstown, NY, the son of Madison and Kathryn (Brooks) Allen. Robert moved to the family farm, Mat-Kay Farm, in West Winfield, on Mother's Day in 1946. He worked alongside his family on the farm and graduated from West Winfield Central Schools in 1963. Robert married Norine Manchester on August 19, 1967 and shared a blessed union of 27 years until her passing on March 20, 1995.
Robert was a lifelong dairy farmer and loved the farm he built with his family and continued working until his passing. He also loved to hunt, fish and spend time at Otter Pond.
He leaves behind his children, Robert (Anne) Allen, Brian (Hope) Allen, Susan (David) Morell, Jeff (Cheryl) Allen and Mike (Shane) Allen; grandchildren, who he was extremely proud of, Kellyanne, Jake, Siena, Andrew, Bradley, Emily, Abby, Owen, Emerson, Noah and Isaiah; father, Madison; sisters, Carol (Gary) Greene, Elaine (Glen) Lyman and Laurene (Joe) Martino; brother, Barry Allen; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathryn, in 2016.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 1-4 p.m. at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Federated Church of West Winfield. Interment will follow in Unadilla Forks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances, in Robert's name, may be made to the West Winfield Fire Dept./Rescue. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
