Robert Stickles Obituary

Robert J.
Stickles
TOWN OF FLOYD
Robert J. Stickles of the Town of Floyd, NY, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2015. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of the late Madison and Cornie Naro Stickles, and attended schools in Altona, NY. He served honorably and proudly in the U.S. Army in Germany, assigned to the 4th Armored Division from June 1957 to June 1959. Robert was united in marriage to the former Rosemary A. Rodriguez, on February 27, 1960, in St. Pauls Church, Whitesboro, NY. He was employed at Marcy and Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Centers for 36 years, retiring in 1990. During his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Adirondacks with his brothers-in-law, Thomas and Joseph; in Montana with his friends, Bob and Dick; and in Alaska with his son, Kevin. He also enjoyed the numerous Sundays with his son Brian, attending dirt bike (moto-cross) racing; camping with the Pianellas and the Buczeks; and the trip to Alaska with Robert and Catherine Schieble. He also enjoyed his time volunteering for the Oriskany Pee Wees with Tom Pianella, and Cub Scout Pack of Floyd, NY. Robert is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two sons and daughter in law, Kevin and Suzanne Stickles of North Pole, Alaska, Brian Stickles of Rome; two granddaughters, Leia Scime-Stickles of Oriskany, and Meghan Stickles-Martin of Puyallup, WA; and two great grandsons, Dawson and Jessie Brooks of Puyallup, WA. A heartfelt thank you to Robert and Catherine Schieble, Dr. Brian Alessi and Staff, Floyd Fire Department, AmCare and Mary Dezotell, for the compassion and care extended to Robert. In keeping with Roberts wishes, there are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at St. Leo and St. Anns Church, Holland Patent. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd Fire Department, Rome Salvation Army or Alzheimer's Association.
