Rose J. Koziol, 78, of New York Mills, passed peacefully, after a long illness, on Thursday, July 25, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at the Focus Nursing Home in Utica. A lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in New York Mills, Rose was the daughter of Jozef and Zofia Swiech. She was married for over 40 years to the late Louis Koziol. She was a devoted mother of Joanne (Tim) O'Hara of Altamont, NY, Leon R. Koziol (and fiancee Heather Dunn) of New Hartford, NY, Frances (Paul) Case of Ilion, NY, and Ronald C. Koziol of N.Y. Mills, NY; loving grandmother of Siobhan (Adam) Sail, Emily O'Hara (and fiance Christopher Wakefield), Katie (Eric) Garippa, Deirdre R. O'Hara, Kristen L. Koziol and Cassandra R. Koziol; along with nieces, Patricia (Rick) Helmer and Christine Maikranz. She was predeceased by her sister, Nellie Swiech, and brothers, John (Dorothy) Swiech, Frank Swiech, Thaddeus Swiech and Stanley (Evelyn) Swiech. Calling hours to which family and friends are invited will be held on Tuesday, July 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main Street, N.Y. Mills. Funeral services begin on Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart/St. Mary's Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills.
