Velvet Stapleton 1945 - 2017
HAMILTON - Velvet Stapleton, 71, formerly of Sherburne, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.
She was born July 21, 1945, in Hamilton, a daughter of the late Wilson and Thelma L. Denison Crumb. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and SUNY Morrisville. Velvet had been a lab technician for Centrex and had also worked for Sherwood Medical in Sherburne and Madden Auto Parts in Oneida. Velvet was an avid reader, great cook, loved animals, was the family historian, loved going to camp and going out to eat with the gang at Madison Lane.
Surviving are her sons, Kevin Stapleton, of Sherburne, and Brian Stapleton, of Hubbardsville; a sister, Margaret LaFlamm, of Dallas, TX; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Crumb, of Waterville, and James and Alicia Crum, of Zephyrhills, FL; grandchildren, Dana Stapleton and Corey (Julia) Stapleton; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Casen and Austen; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton. Interment will be in the Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville, in the spring.
