William Hartmann, 70, of New Hartford, NY, and formerly of New Jersey, died March 28, 2013. He was born September 16, 1942, in Pennsauken, NJ, son of the late Louis and Anna Hartmann. He married Betty J. Wight on September 4, 1965, at the First Baptist Church of Collingswood, NJ. Bill served in the Navy for 4 years. He provided USDA Rural Development with 34 years of service and, later in his career, became a Community Program Specialist. Bill was a true man of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, biking and kayaking. He shared this passion with family and friends. When he retired, his love of nature led him to become the vice president of the Deerfield Fish and Game Club where he discovered life-long friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hartmann, and children, Michelle Hartmann, William S. Hartmann and his wife, Kelly, of Edmond, OK, and grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Hartmann. The family would like to thank Charlie Ellsworth and Dave Corr for their assistance the night Bill passed away. The service will be Saturday at 12 Noon at Dimbley, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
