Howard Langley Obituary

On Thursday, November 26, 2020, Howard Francis (Sonny) Langley, devoted husband and father of five children, passed away at age 81. Howard was preceded in death by his mother Eileen Langley: He is survived by his loving wife Susan B. Langley and five children: Barbara Swann, Christine Obaugh, Cate Langley, David Hogge (Shelly), and Jeff Ammons (Kristi). In addition Howard is survived by two sisters, Pat Langley and Diane Naedel, nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Howard was a 1958 graduate of Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C. and 1963 Naval Academy graduate. Howard was a proud Marine and served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from his service in Vietnam, he was stationed at Marine Headquarters in Washington D.C. as a Survival Assistant Officer making notifications to the next of kin family members of fallen Marines. Out of respect for his fellow fallen Marines, he marched from Fort Myer to the sacred hallowed ground at Arlington Naional Cemetery more than 300 times a year. After Howard left the military, he became an entrepreneur and businessman with adventures all over the country. His longest running business, Howard Motor Company is still thriving in Williamsburg, Virginia. Howard retired a happy man, loved golfing, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Florida and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Point, Virginia. Mr. Langley will be interred with full military honors due him in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to be determined. H, thank you so much for being such a strong father figure in my life. I know I never told you how much I love you, but you know I did and appreciate you making me the man I am today. There will not be a day that goes by I don't think about you and miss you terribly. My family and I are grateful we had so many wonderful years with you. You did an amazing job taking care of my Mom and I want to thank you for that. Jeff and I will look after her until you meet her again in Heaven. Please watch over us and protect us as you always did. There will be a time I know I'll need to ask you something so listen out. I hope Heaven is all you hoped it would be and you are happy. One day we'll meet again, but until then I will spend my life honoring you and being the man you and Mom raised. I hope you'll be proud. I love you, H.
