Paul Isaacson Obituary

Paul Dean Isaacson

March 2, 1940 - June 30, 2025

Paul Isaacson, 85, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away at home on June 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Paul.

Paul Dean Isaacson was born on March 2, 1940 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Paul G. and Marjorie (Young) Isaacson.

He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1958 and later entered the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years as an air traffic controller. He then attended Florida State University and earned his bachelor's degree.

Paul married Jeanette Stewart on March 20, 1976 in Davenport, Iowa.

Paul's career as an insurance adjuster spanned 40 years; first working as an independent adjuster and then completing his career with West Bend Mutual Insurance Company.

Upon retirement, Paul and Jeanette moved to Aiken, South Carolina and enjoyed 23 years there before returning to Iowa to be near family. While residing in Aiken, they became members of St. John's Methodist Church and made many dear friends during that time.

Paul was a devoted Iowa Hawkeyes fan and attended many football and basketball games over the years. Even while living in South Carolina, Paul always rooted for the Hawks.

He loved dogs and had many favorites over the years including Ginger, Bambino, J.B. and Misty.

Paul also enjoyed coin collecting and following the stock market.

Most of all, Paul cherished his family. He was a devoted family man and much-loved husband, dad and papa.

Those left to honor his memory are his beloved wife of 49 years, Jeanette; daughters Paula Isaacson and Cristi (Steve) Williams; grandchildren Zachary Hinrichs (Brittany), Joshua Hinrichs (Nicole), Ryan Hinrichs, and Bailey Staton (Jared); great-grandchildren Evelyn and Piper Hinrichs, J.J. and Amelia Hinrichs, and soon-to-be-born baby girl Staton; sisters Sharon Herzberg and Jill (Scotty) Kurtz, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Isaacson, and his brother-in-law Ermal Herzberg.

I counted Paul as the most impactful mentor I had. This did not stay simply in the insurance industry, he gave me practical advice on career, saving for retirement and any number of other things that I took to heart for life. I can't express enough how much he influenced me. My heart goes out to Jeanette and family for your loss.

So sorry to hear of Paul´s passing. He and my husband Dennis were good friends. My husband was from Villisca iowa and Paul knew a cousin of Dennis. My husband was also a relation of Herzberg.
