ROBERT JANDREAU Obituary

Robert W. Jandreau 1947 - 2020 Robert Warren Jandreau, son of Norman Joseph and Helen Emelia (Strom) Jandreau, was born on July 5, 1947 at Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa. He unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 13, 2020 in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 73 years, 8 days. His early life was spent growing up in rural Page County between Essex and Shenandoah where he attended country school through 8th grade. He attended high school in Shenandoah, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1965. Following high school, Bob attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri for two years. He then attended Peru State Teachers College for one year before being drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam. From his induction in January of 1969 through January of 1971, Bob proudly served his country. He was stationed in Tay Nink, Vietnam and Quan Loi. He served as a machine gunner on a helicopter with the 1st Air Cavalry Division. He was wounded in Quan Loi and subsequently had surgery in Vietnam. For his service and sacrifice, Bob was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal and 2nd Class Gunner, Machine Gun, Marksmen and Sharpshooter medals. He was honorably discharged in 1971 and then served nine years with the Army National Guard. On June 7, 1985, Bob was united in marriage to Jolene (Steeple) Stange in Shenandoah, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Shenandoah, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Sanford, Maine and back to Council Bluffs where they currently resided. For over 35 years, Bob worked in the field of crop insurance as a Claims Adjuster and Claims Auditor with three different crop insurance companies. He was still employed upon his death. Special interests of Bob's were fishing and hunting while growing up. He continued his love of fishing and the great outdoors throughout his life. He also loved traveling the New England states into Canada and the Canadian Provinces. Preceding Bob in death were his parents, Norman and Helen Jandreau; aunts, uncles and cousins. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 35 years, Jolene Jandreau of Council Bluffs, IA; brother, Richard Jandreau ; nephew, Nick Jandreau; two step daughters, Tracy Lamaestra of Laguna Hills, CA and Jill Sykora and husband David of Council Bluffs, IA; cousins; other relatives; and many friends. Memorial graveside services were held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with Pastor Luke Fillmore officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Shenandoah American Legion Post #88. Memorials in Bob's name are being directed to the Rapp Park Improvement Project Fund.
