Shirley Schaaf 1928 - 2021 Shirley Anne (Lorimor) Schaaf, Age 92, of Randolph, Iowa passed away April 27, 2021 at her residence at Windsor Manor in Shenandoah, Iowa. Shirley was born on September 4, 1928 at the family home the youngest of eight children to parents Walter and Grace (Scott) Lorimor. As a member of a busy farm family she was very active in 4-H and won the Iowa Centennial State Fair Style Revue and later represented Iowa at the National 4-H club congress in Chicago as the style queen. Shirley graduated from the Shenandoah high school in 1946. She attended and received a teachers diploma from Iowa Teachers College in Iowa Falls in 1948. She taught elementary education in the Corning school district. On December 30, 1950 she shared wedding vows with Stanley Schaaf and this union was blessed with four children Stan L, Mary Margaret, David and Anne. Shirley was a devoted and caring Christian mother and attended to the needs of their family farm life. As a farm wife she would prepare wonderful noon meals for Stanley and David which would often include a piece of fresh baked apple pie. She was an Eastern Star member, active member of United Methodist Church and worked at the Fremont County Fair in many capacities including as a dress review judge. When the children were older Shirley and Stanley traveled throughout the United States including ocean cruises. They spent much time visiting extended family including a week long Lorimor Family Reunion every 2 years at different locations around the country. They also enjoyed traveling in the winter to visit her sister and brother in law in Sun City, AZ. She and Stanley loved attending all types of sporting and school events for the children and grandchildren. Proceeding her in death were her mother and father Grace and Walter Lorimor and all of her sisters and brothers, Margaret and Fred Ball, Fred Lorimor, Scott and Elizabeth Lorimor, Robert Lorimor and wives Jean and Jane, Walter Jr (Tede) and Janie Lorimor, Mary and John Redd, Bert and Marie Lorimor. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Stanley Schaaf, sons & spouses Stan L (Sandy) & Cindy, David & Bobbi, and daughters Mary Margaret and Anne Marie Schaaf. Seven grandchildren Hettie & Jeff Funke of NE City, Emily & Anthony Head of Imogene, Chris Schaaf & fiancé Aileen of Council Bluffs, Sheri & fiancé Clete Jones of Farragut. Kyle & Crystal Kemper of Dallas, TX, Kassie & Steve Jorgenson of Council Bluffs, Kari & Lake Fernando of Overland Park, KS and thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Randolph, IA United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Phillips officiating. Visitation was open from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA. Interment was in the Sidney, IA Cemetery and memorials will go to the Randolph, IA United Methodist Church. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA is in charge of arrangements.
